Venezuelan women arrested for allegedly entering country illegally

Three Venezuelan women are expected to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate today on allegations of entering this country from an illegal port of entry.

The women were arrested on Friday afternoon at an apartment building in Kelly Village, Caroni, during a joint police exercise.

The officers received information about activities being conducted in the building and as such they visited the area.

Initially, one man, said to be from Caroni, was detained with the three women, however, he was subsequently released pending further inquiries.

Officials from the Immigration Department were notified and the women were questioned, before they were charged.

More on this as it becomes available.
