Two in court for supermarket robbery

Two men are expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate on Thursday, charged with robbery with aggravation against a supermarket owner and an on duty security guard on June 18.

Rondell Valentine, of Wavell Street, Ste. Madeleine, and Jamile Cooper, of Princes Street, San Fernando, were charged with robbery with aggravation after being arrested by officers of the Mon Repos Police Station.

The two were held during separate anti-crime exercises on June 25 in Mon Repos, and July 9, 2018, in Olera Heights, respectively.

The men are alleged to have robbed the victims at a supermarket along Navet Road, San Fernando, around 10 am on June 18.

Two armed men entered the supermarket, announced a robbery and proceeded to steal a quantity of cash, a cell phone and a baton from the victims, before escaping.

The accused were charged by PC Marc Subero, of the Mon Repos Police Station.
