Two Chinese nationals and one T&T national are expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate on Monday, charged for being in possession of a juvenile Scarlet Ibis.
The three were held in the El Socorro area on Sunday afternoon.
They were charged hours later by Game Warden Richard Ramlogan.
The Scarlet Ibis is one of T&T’s national birds and was labelled an environmentally sensitive species in July. The signing of that legal notice means that persons found recklessly endangering or adversely impacting the species are liable to a fine of $100,000 or two years imprisonment.
