Traffic restrictions for First Peoples march in PoS and Arima

The Santa Rosa First Peoples Community will march through Port-of-Spain at 10 am today in one of two ceremonial parades in observance of the First Peoples one-off national holiday on Friday, October 13.

 

Members of the Public are asked to note the route of the respective parades and their associated traffic restrictions.

1. Parade in Port of Spain (Thursday, October 12) 

 

The Parade in Port of Spain will begin at 10 am. Participants will assemble at the Eastern Gate of the Red House on Abercromby Street, proceed North on Abercromby Street, West on Knox Street, South on St. Vincent Street, East on Hart Street, North on Abercromby Street, East on Knox Street, then South on Frederick Street making a circle at the Cipriani Roundabout and lastly to the Brian Lara Promenade. 

 

2. Parade in Arima (Friday, October 13) 

 

The Parade in Arima will begin at 8:30 am. Participants will converge at the Hyarima Statue and will continue to the North West corner of the Arima Savannah, proceed East to Woodford Street; continue North on Woodford Street; then East on Sorzano Street; then South on Queen Street; West along Hollis Avenue; into Pro Queen Street, around the Savannah onto Queen Mary Street heading North onto Hollis Street heading East, then to the North West corner of the Arima Velodrome. 

 

Members of the public are asked to exercise caution and adhere to the instructions of law enforcement officers when commuting in the vicinity of the respective parade routes.
