Three men appear in court for KFC robbery

Three men have appeared before a Siparia Magistrate charged in connection with the robbery of a KFC outlet in Siparia on November 9.

A statement by the TTPS notes that the accused are 20-year-old Avin ‘Kevin’ Khan; 22-year-old Brent ‘Crix’ Lall and 25-year-old Nicholas Francis all of San Francique Road, Penal.

The trio were jointly charged with robbery with aggravation and possession of a firearm.

Francis faces an additional charge of common assault.

All three men appeared before Magistrate Margaret Alert on Tuesday.

Francis and Khan pleaded guilty and were remanded into custody while Lall pleaded not guilty and was granted $700,000 bail with surety.

The matter has been adjourned to November 20.

During the incident, around 10:40 pm, an armed man wearing a hoodie entered KFC and announced a robbery.

The suspect stole the drawer of the cash register and escaped. A report was immediately made to police, leading officers of the Siparia Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to intercept a white Nissan AD wagon with three male occupants along Doorbassa Trace, San Francique Road, Penal.

A search of the vehicle resulted in officers discovering one pistol and a cash register’s drawer. All three were taken to the Siparia Police Station where charges were laid by PC Hansraj of the Siparia CID.
