A 16-year-old teenager was arrested by police minutes after a robbery was reported in Chaguanas on Tuesday night.
According to a statement issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), around 4:30 pm on Tuesday afternoon, a 14-year-old teenaged victim reported to police officers who were on mobile patrol along the Southern Main Road in Montrose, Chaguanas, that a man of African descent had robbed him of his iPhone 6S cell phone.
Officers of the Chaguanas Community Police Unit – WPC Deo and PCs Chaitlal, Samnath and Mohit, immediately carried out a search for the suspect, who was eventually caught a short distance away from the scene.
Police said the stolen item was found in the suspect’s possession.
The suspect was then taken to the Juvenile Booking Centre at the Brasso Police Station.
