In a statement issued Thursday, Rambachan said the statements has been shared to two Facebook pages and that he has engaged his attorneys to address the matter.
“It has come to our attention that highly libellous and inflammatory statements are being posted on two public Facebook pages with regard to my family.”
“These posts are engaging the attention of our attorneys who have been instructed to use all means available to trace the source of the posts.”
“We furthermore underscore that these malicious rumours bear no truth and will not hesitate to take all legal steps necessary to protect our reputation both in reference to the original posts and comments thereunder,” he said.
Rambachan’s statement comes after reports that police are investigating the sexual assault of a four-year-old girl in South Trinidad about one month ago.
Police were told the incident occurred at the home of the son of a former minister.
The matter has also been referred to the Children’s Authority which is aiding the police with investigations.
