Security guard charged for $500,000 Western Union theft

A 33-year-old security guard has been charged for larceny.

The security officer was one of the persons detained last week following a robbery at the Port of Spain Branch of Western Union, where over $500,000 in cash was stolen.

The man was also charged with criminally damaging the safe in which the money had been secured, valued at $6,000, and for the wasteful employment of police time.

The security officer is expected to be brought before a Port of Spain Magistrate tomorrow to answer all three charges.

He is currently being represented by defence attorney Fareed Ali.

Cpl Williams is the complainant in the matter, having laid all three charges.
