San Fernando police hunt for serial arsonist

Police are said to be searching for a male suspect following a fire in San Fernando yesterday morning,

The suspect, Looptt was told, is a serial arsonist. Residents in the area of Rushworth Street where the fire was lit claim that he has been linked to at least three other fires in the area over the past few months.

Officers of the Mon Repos Fire Station are expected to return to the scene of the blaze today to determine the cause of the fire.


According to reports, around 4.17 am on Friday, fire officers received information that a house was on fire along Rushworth Street.

When officers arrived, they observed one building was fully ablaze, and that the fire had spread to the roof of a nearby two-storey structure.

They were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further.

Six people – including an 85-year-old man – have been affected by the blaze.

However, no casualties were reported.
