Probe into hospital deaths of two THA workers

The Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) has launched an investigation into the deaths of two women, who died both died within a short period after receiving medical care.

Petronella Neptune and Tricia King were both employees of the Tobago House of Assembly.

In a release issued on Friday, Secretary of Health, Wellness and Family Development, Dr Agatha Carrington, expressed sadness by the women’s passing.


Neptune died on January 5, while King died on Wednesday.

“These deaths have impacted the entire Island and the management and staff of the Division of Health Wellness and Family Development and the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA), extend sincere condolences to the family and entire Tobago community,” the release stated.

Carrington has also mandated the management of TRHA to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The findings from this investigation will be used to ascertain the level of care delivered to both clients and inform the necessary corrective actions to be taken (if any), to avoid any future occurrences, it stated.

“This is an incredibly sad time for us all, but together, we continue to strive for the best delivery in our health care services on the Island,” the release stated.

Neptune, fondly called Ms Petty, would be laid to rest following a service at the Les Coteaux Anglican church on Saturday.
