Police held three men after a botched robbery attempt in Port of Spain on Friday afternoon.
According to a report from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the incident took place at Sin Kiu Trading, George Street, Port of Spain on Friday around 1:00 pm.
The 53-year-old proprietor was at his business place when two armed men entered and announced a robbery.
The businessman said he became fearful for his life and drew his licensed firearm and shot at the men, wounding two of them.
One of the suspects dropped a firearm before they both ran off.
Officers immediately responded and conducted extensive searches in the George Street Plannings and bushy areas in the vicinity of the scene for the assailants. The three suspects were subsequently found and arrested.
One Ruger pistol was recovered from the scene of the shooting.
Investigations are continuing.
