Two men were arrested and a Taurus pistol and a shotgun were seized by officers of the Northern Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise in the Division on Tuesday.
According to a report from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), officers conducted the exercise in the Area West of the Northern Division, between 1:00 am and 2:00 pm, on Tuesday during which they had cause to stop a vehicle with two male occupants along Centenary Street Extension, Tunapuna.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the pistol and five rounds of .38mm ammunition being discovered.
A 19-year-old man of Orange Grove Trace, St. Augustine, and an 18-year-old man of Helping Hand Ground, St. Augustine, were arrested in connection with the finds.
And, based on information received, officers then proceeded to a forested area in La Pastora, Lopinot, where they found one Remington 12 gauge shotgun, hidden under some sheets of galvanise.
No arrests were made in connection with the find.
