Police are investigating a report in which an 88-year-old man was robbed after leaving a bank.
The victim, from St John Road, St Augustine, had reportedly left the First Citizen’s Bank in Tunapuna, where he had withdrawn $15,000 in cash.
He placed the money in an envelope, which he secured on the inside of his shirt pocket.
The elderly man then went outside and flagged down a red-band maxi.
As he entered the vehicle, however, he felt someone bounce into him.
The man apologised and walked away.
The 88-year-old man realised shortly afterward that the money was missing.
He raised an alarm but the thief had already made his escape.
The police were notified and PC Seetaram from the Tunapuna police station is continuing inquiries.
