No leads yet on missing cop

Almost three days after being reported missing, Woman Police Constable (WPC) Nayasha Joseph is yet to be found.

Homicide detectives and Port-of-Spain police stepped up their search efforts this weekend after receiving several tips since news of Joseph’s disappearance spread on Friday.

The T&T Guardian understands that several searches were conducted in Beetham Gardens and Sea Lots including a reported off-shore search by Coast Guard officers, who were investigating the possibility that she may have been dumped in a river in Sea Lots and her body washed out to sea.

A 32-year-old male friend of Joseph who was arrested by police on Friday remained in custody up to late yesterday.

Joseph, 22, was reported missing after she did not show up for duty on Friday. She was attached to the Morvant Police Station and joined the T&T Police Service in November, last year.

She is the mother of one and lived with her boyfriend at Production Avenue, Sea Lots. Joseph’s daughter is expected to celebrate her fourth birthday today.

Police said Joseph was last seen by her colleagues on Thursday around 11 am.
