The Ministry of Health (MoH) is joining the medical fraternity in mourning the sudden passing of Dr Andy Bhagwandass.
A statement issued on Monday noted that the medical fraternity and Trinidad and Tobago lost a devoted physician who left an indelible mark on the profession to which he gave his best.
Dr Bhagwandass was found dead at his home around 4:30 am on Saturday.
The Ministry said he will be remembered for his significant contributions in the field of medicine as a Consultant of Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC), a position he held until his passing.
Dr Bhagwandass previously held portfolios of Medical Chief of Staff at the EWMSC and Chairman at the North West Regional Health Authority.
Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh expressed sadness over the “loss of a physician at the peak of his career, who displayed a passion for the health and the well-being of patients as well as a commitment to improving the public health system”.
The Minister of Health further extended condolences to the Bhagwandass family adding that he hoped they “receive the necessary strength and support from loved ones, during their time of grief”.
