Man held with firearm during search for missing officer

According to police reports, around 1pm on Saturday, officers of the Inter Agency Task Force, with support from officials from the TT Defence Force, were conducting joint patrols in the Sea Lots community as they supported various units in their search for missing Woman Police Constable (WPC) Nayasha Joseph.

While along Pioneer Drive, Sea Lots, a team of officers had cause to stop and search a man known to them. They observed what appeared to be a firearm tucked in his waistline while talking to the suspect.

However, as he was about to be detained, the individual darted away and attempted to escape in an empty lot of land.


The officers gave chase, and was able to detain the suspect a short distance away.

A 9mm Berreta pistol, loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition was allegedly found on his person.

As a result of the find, the suspect was detained.

Senior officers at the Port of Spain Division told LoopTT that they wanted to publicly commend the officers involved in the seizure, namely WPC Farrell, PC Arnold, and PC Duprey, as well as the officers from the Regiment who supported the officials, including Cpl Bapstiste, and Private Suttle.
