Eight Venezuelan nationals were detained in Palo Seco during a police exercise on Tuesday.
A 21-year-old man from Erin Beach Road, Erin, was also held during the exercise.
The eight Venezuelan nationals, police said, included two women, ages 23 and 59.
According to police reports, around 4 pm on Tuesday, police received information which led them to a bushy area off Dicky Branch Trace, off Beach Road, Palo Seco.
Here, the officers had cause to stop and search a group of persons, and the eight Venezuelans were unable to produce evidence of entering the country at a legal port of entry.
They were detained, along with the Trinidadian man they were in company with.
The exercise was spearheaded by Cpl Harripersad, in company with PC Gaffar, PC Seepersad, and PC Jaglal, among several others.
