'Decky' appears in court for Laventille teen's murder

A Laventille man has appeared before the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court, charged with the murder of 18-year-old Kevon De Peza.

De Peza of Trou Macaque Road, Laventille, was gunned down on April 16.

He was standing at the front of his home around 3:00 pm when he was shot multiple times. He was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The accused, 24-year-old Darren Sealy also known as ‘Decky’ and ‘Gatty’, a labourer of Upper Pashley Street, Laventille, was arrested on August 5 by officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region 1.

He was charged following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Joan Honore-Paul on August 11.

When he appeared before the 8th Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Sealy was also charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The matter was postponed to September 10.

Investigations were supervised by acting W/ASP Suzette Martin while PC Adrian Smith, both of HBI Region 1, laid the charges.
