Customers robbed leaving banks, police arrest four

Northern Division police believe they have made significant strides in breaking up a robbery ring in the district with the arrests of four people this weekend.

The four suspects, all said to be between the ages of 21 and 36, were arrested in the St Joseph CID by a team of officers from the Special Investigations Unit led by Inspector Robert Joseph, under the supervision of Snr Sup Daniel.

Within recent weeks, police had received numerous reports of persons being robbed after completing transactions at various financial institutions in the district.

As a result, investigations were launched by the Unit, which cumulated in the arrests of the four suspects.

They are all expected to be placed on identification parades this week, and if positively identified, the suspects will be charged and brought before the courts.

Police have also once again asked the public to be mindful of their surroundings whenever they did business at banks or credit unions, noting that persons were usually lurking in the background to target those they saw leaving with envelopes or pouches.
