An accident in Rio Claro which left one vehicle a mangled wreck has, miraculously, resulted in no fatalities.
Photos of the wreck showed the crumpled car wrapped around a utility pole along the Naparima/Mayaro Road on Thursday morning.
The driver, who is lucky to be alive, escaped with minor injuries, including a broken arm.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 6:00 am on Thursday morning when the driver was heading west along the Naparima/Mayaro Road in a white Mitsubishi Lancer.
The driver attempted to turn a corner when he lost control of the car and collided with the electricity pole.
Bystanders who saw what transpired quickly notified the police as well as the emergency health services.
The driver, who is said to be from Libertyville Village, was trapped as a result of the accident.
Fire officers who responded were forced to use the “jaws of life” to remove the driver from the wreck.
Senior officers in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) are once again calling on motorists to exercise caution when using the roadways, especially during the rainy season.
Drivers were also asked to make sure that they did not have defective tyres.
