Bermudez dismantle Jabloteh netballers

GOAL-SHOOT Nakaliah Daniel scored 21 goals, the best in the division thus far, as she led Bermudez to a second win and a clear advantage in the Courts All Sectors Netball League Alternative Division standings, on Thursday. Bermudez recorded a lopsided 39-2 win – their second in three days – over Defence Force at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Tacarigua.

Daniel scored 21 goals from 27 attempts, with her colleague and goal-attack Nicola Alleyne providing top support with 18 goals from 30 attempts.

The result followed Bermudez’s first round 23-7 win over Defence Force on Tuesday, while it left Jabloteh – the only other team on two matches played – ruing another defeat. Jabloteh were also in action on Tuesday but lost narrowly to UWI (Y) 14-16. The only other match in the Alternative Division resulted in a 24-10 win for UWI (X) over Las Lomas.

There were two other Alternative Division matches yesterday: MIC Tigers sealed a comfortable 26-10 win over USC with good performances from goal-shoot Okera Dennie (15/19) and Aaliyah Modeste (6/8); PYC dropped TT Post 27-10. Cherysse Aguilleria was the sharpest player for PYC, scoring seven from her 10 attempts, while Kaliyah Cooper top scored with 17 goals from 31 tries.

Today, the highly-anticipated Premiership and Championship Divisions will begin play at the same venue.

Jabloteh will be eager to collect a first win after three attempts in three divisions. After losses in the Retro and Alternative, Jabloteh will meet Miscellaneous Laventille – a team making its league debut – in the Championship Division, from 12.30 pm.

The Premiership Division begins with Las Lomas and UTC clashing from 1.45 pm.

In the third match, Defence Force and TSTT open their accounts in the Championship Division at 3 pm, followed by the second Premiership Division fixture between Police and Police Youth Club (PYC) at 4.15 pm.
