An autopsy has been ordered to confirm what may have caused the death of a seven-day-old child.
Police have stressed that thus far, no foul play has been suspected in baby Jaden Quashie’s death, and that it is believed to be a case of sudden death.
However, an autopsy has been ordered to confirm this.
According to reports, at 6.30 am on Tuesday, the baby’s 29-year-old mother had breastfed her son and put him down on the couch to attend to her other children at their Phoenix Park, Savonetta, home.
Then about 10 minutes later she observed the infant was not moving and alerted the emergency health services.
The child was rushed to the Couva Health Facility, where the infant was subsequently pronounced dead.
A post mortem was ordered.
PC Vialva is continuing inquiries.
